Independence Day (colloquially the Fourth of July or July 4) is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States, on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject (and subordinate) to the monarch of Britain, King George III, and were now united, free, and independent states. The Congress had voted to declare independence two days earlier, on July 2, but it was not declared until July 4.

Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches, and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the national day of the United States.

독립기념일은 1776년 7월 4일 독립선언문에 서명한 날을 기념하는 날이다. 오늘날의 동부 해안 지역에 해당하는 13개 식민지에 거주하고 있던 당시의 식민지 주민들은 영국 왕과 의회의 부당한 대우에 격분하여 전쟁을 벌였다. 독립전쟁은 1775년 시작되었다. 전쟁이 계속되면서 식민지 주민들은 단순히 더 나은 대우를 받기 위하여 싸우는 것이 아니라 영국의 통치로부터 자유를 지키기 위하여 싸우는 것이라는 사실을 깨닫게 되었다. 13개 식민지 대표들이 서명한 독립선언문은 영국으로부터 자유를 쟁취하기 위한 자신들의 목적을 분명하게 천명했으며 공식 문서에서는 처음으로 미합중국(United States of America)이라는 명칭을 사용하게 되었다.

독립기념일은 가족들이 야유회를 가기도 하고 많은 기념 퍼레이드가 벌어지는 날이다. 또 밤에는 각종 연주회와 불꽃놀이 등의 행사들이 펼쳐진다. 독립기념일에는 현충일이나 다른 공휴일과 마찬가지로 미국 국기를 흔드는 경우가 많다. 1976년 7월 4일에는 독립선언 200주년을 맞아 미국 전역에서 수 많은 대규모 축하 행사가 이루어졌다.

Mr. Trash Wheel, officially called the Inner Harbor Water Wheel, is a trash interceptor, a vessel that removes trash from the Jones Falls river as it empties into the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland. It is powered by water wheels and solar cells, and places trash from the harbor onto an onboard conveyor belt which routes it into dumpsters on the vessel. Mr. Trash Wheel was invented by John Kellett in 2008, who launched a pilot vessel at that time. A larger vessel was later developed; it replaced the pilot vessel and was launched in May 2014. The Mr. Trash Wheel vessel is part of the Waterfront Partnership of the City of Baltimore's "Healthy Harbor Plan."

Mr. Trash Wheel is a semi-autonomous trash interceptor that is placed at the end of a river, stream or other outfall.

미국에서 가장 흔하게 볼 수 있는 도로 표지판 중에 하나 인것 같아요. 특히 하우스가 밀집된 네이버후드 내에서 자주  볼 수 있어요. 만약 이 표지판이 있는 곳으로 들어가는 차가 있다면 그 골목에 사는 사람이겠죠? ^^

2007년 국제연합 총회(United Nations General Assembly)에서 만장일치로 선포되었으며 매년 4월 2일이다. 이 날은 사회적으로 음지에 있는 자폐에 대한 인식을 높이고 조기 진단을 통해 적절한 치료를 할 수 있도록 돕기 위하여 지정되었다. 대표적인 행사로 꼽히는 Light Up Blue 캠페인은 자폐증에 대한 관심과 보호를 요구하며 파란 불을 켜는 것으로, 2011년 4월 2일 세계자폐증인식의 날을 맞아 미국의 록펠러 센터(Rockefeller Center), 호주의 시드니 오페라 하우스(Sydney Opera House), 브라질의 예수상 등 세계적인 건축물들이 참여하였다.

자폐증은 주로 3세 이전에 나타나는 평생 발달 장애이다. 75%는 정신 지체를 동반하며 상동증(특정 행동을 반복), 의사소통 장애, 주변에 대한 무관심, 인지발달 저하, 사회성 발달 지연 등의 증상을 보인다.

World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day on April 2 every year, encouraging Member States of the United Nations to take measures to raise awareness about people with autistic spectrum disorders including autism and Asperger syndrome throughout the world. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly resolution World Autism Awareness Day", passed in council on 1 November 2007, and adopted on 18 December 2007. It was proposed by Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, the United Nations Representative from Qatar and consort to Emir Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and supported by all member states.
